Many of our partners have been asking if we have any news from our colleagues in the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan. Those of you who are following the news channels will know that communication lines are down in Leyte, and any news from our colleagues over there is sporadic. It is important, at a time like this, for us to let our colleagues in the Philippines focus on getting themselves and their families to safety. There are news reports that speak of casualties being in the thousands, and we understand the possibility that some of our fellow workers may be among this number, but it will probably be several weeks until we receive verified information.
Many of you are kindly offering help, and for this we have provided two options to donate. One option is via Christian Aid which will go toward helping the general populace of the Philippines, and the other is a fund set up by the DDC Group which will be given directly to our colleagues in DDC PI and their families. The links to the donation pages are below.
DDC OS and the DDC Group are committed to helping our colleagues in the Philippines and although work is temporarily moving to our offices in Manila and Batangas, we will be rebuilding our offices in Leyte and continue our commitment to providing employment to the local population.
For our part, our focus is on ensuring that any disruption to our clients is kept to a minimum. Our disaster recovery procedures have worked well, and it is a testament to the remarkable resilience of the people of the Philippines how little impact there has been on our clients.
